Whilst the Company was founded in 1933, it was Claude Boivin, President, who when he
acquired Labrie Equipment in 1971, firmly established Labrie as a market leader, through his
vision and entrepreneurial spirit, by introducing the first recycling, curbside collection vehicle,
the Top Select™. There are currently more than 3000 of these vehicles in service and the
demand continues for them continues.
In 1994 the launch of the all-new Expert 2000™ was a milestone year for Labrie; recognized as
'masters' of automation, for their design and manufacture of manual, semi-automated, and
fully-automated side-loading collection vehicles, they are the only manufacturer to engineer
and build their own drop-frame vehicles in-house.
In 2001, Labrie was the first manufacturer to become ISO 9001 certified and continues to operate
to these standards by undergoing re-certification on an annual basis.
In 2004 Labrie acquired its own dedicated plant for the production of automated arms, lifters, and
tippers; known now as Industrial Lifters. This year was also a milestone, when the Group acquired
Juggler and began building these unique solid/liquid separators for septic tanks and grease traps.
In 2006, Labrie introduced the first, tapered body, drop frame, side-loading collection vehicle;
the Expert t 2000 - an improved version of the first Expert line - for which there is widespread
demand across North America.
In 2006, Mr. Jean Bourgeois became Executive Vice-President and General Manager and quickly
put into action a plan to consolidate the Company's product offer by acquiring the parts business
and certain Leach and Wittke assets from Federal Signal Corporation. This added a rear-loading
product platform and additional front-loading platform to the existing offer.
In October 2006, the company became Labrie Environmental Group, consolidating all its brands,
Labrie, Leach, Wittke, Juggler, and Industrial Lifters under one corporate umbrella.
Labrie Environmental Group distributes and supports its products via strong network of over
50 distributorships, spanning the United States and Canada and owns and is currently
opening a U.S. parts and Customer Support centre, in Wisconsin.
